I don't think anyone knocked it out of the park really.
Sony had the most impressive conference: Uncharted 4 looked outstanding, Horizon looked like a very interesting new IP (I think I might have preferred it without the robots though) and there were obviously the big reveals of TLG, Shenmue and FF7 (having not played Shenmue, I'm not particularly interested in it). However, a lot of the content was for well into the future, and a good chunk of it (Blops, No Mans Sky, Destiny) left me cold.
Xbox has the best 2015. Backwards compatibility was the highlight for me, Tomb Raider, despite being given a poor showing IMO, will be incredible and the Rare collection was a fantastic reveal. However, as someone who isn't a fan of Halo, Gears or Forza, there wasn't that much there for me. Minecraft Hololens looked amazing, and I look forward to seeing the tech in more detail.
Nintendo had a terrible conference, it felt like the video was unfinished (little news on third parties, indies or the eShop, etc.). I don't think any of the games demoed well, and a good few of the new titles look poor, and it looks like Ninty have moved on from the Wii U. I think they made a big mistake releasing a Smash direct and a mini-direct a few days before. That being said, Paper Mario and Luigi was a nice surprise, and the World Championships and (what I've seen of) Treehouse Live are excellent. Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World look fantastic, and I'll be getting Chibi-Robo as well (mainly for the amiibo
) this year.
