I'm about an hour into the game in the attic fighting the mini-boss. At one point I run out of the room and hide in a side-room to reload. I can hear her using the chainsaw on something but nothing is happening to the door in front of me. Suddenly I get attacked from behind and I realise she's cut down the back wall of the room behind me.

 I died.

Ahah, even though I think the first person perspective is a good move for the series, it does certainly lead to moments like that.

Holy strawberry float. Just played the first hour and it was absolutely incredible! I would love to try it in VR but I don't think I'd be able to cope with it. Stopped for tonight but will hopefully get another hour in tomorrow. Oh my, I'm so glad I bought this on release. Jesus wept, that was an amazing hour.

The claustrophobic feeling you get from the first person is utterly terrifying. Walking up beside a door is horrible as there's that perfect moment where your turning to face down a corridor fully expecting to be faced with some kind of terrible sight. First impressions of this are so good. I played the demo a lot but I didn't expect to be this excited.

I thought I was 'Mr Big Stuff' whilst in the mansion, I had gooseberry fool loads of ammo and herbs, but when I've ventured down into the cellars where the Molded are, I've got jack gooseberry fool of either left! And Jack would you just strawberry float off and die!

This is the problem I'm now having, got the scorpion key and I've got 5 rounds of ammo left and I've lost count of how many times I've died. No option to change to easy either as trying to take down a molded (or 2 at the same time :dread: ) or Jack with a knife is strawberry floating ridiculous.

Craft Handgun ammo?
Did you get the shotgun?
Do you have any lockpicks?

I've got 5 rounds left, 1 lockpick, 2 gunpowders, no shotgun yet.

No chemicals?

The lockpickable orange boxes mostly has ammo in it - I don't know which ones you've seen/unlocked though to suggest.

You should be able to get the shotgun now you have the key (ask and I'll put more)

Jack - run from. A great "cheese" strategy is run and hide in the Shotgun trap room - the door will close when you pick the Shotgun up, and he can't get in. After a while he can't see you so retreats off

Moulded- remember to block and they're not that bad. Blocking is really important in this. 3-4 headshots. Remember 180, run away and 180 again, fire shots off. Block if they're getting to close and you don't have time to run.

Played a bit more last night and apart from Jump scares, the overbearing foreboding nature found in Alien Isolation isn't in this game, its not a bad thing really but I'm surprised a bit. It could be the sound design I can't really put finger on it. When being chased or stalked the enemies just don't have the same visual and aural impact of the Alien.

Resident evil has never had that. Its all about being on your own with little ammo, putting together whats gone on in the house. Why people are comparing it to an alien game is weird. Completely different premise apart from the first person perspective.

To be fair, there are large parts of RE7 that mirror Alien Isolation. The fact you are being stalked is a big similarity, especially in some parts when being caught is insta death/game over just like AI. Plus the middle third of AI gives you guns and you take on the robot dudes who could be similar to enemies found in RE7.

Youre stalked for 2 sections of a 12 hour game. You can fight back. There arent insta death moments and you dont have to sneak everywhere. I couldnt play alien due to the fact i could never kill it and was always worried. Here its different. Each to their own though mate.

Yo, man, not arguing, just explaining why people are comparing the games. :D
