I really don't have the patience to replay long sections of the game, multiple times.

Are you playing DSIII or the original Dark Souls?

Either way finding a bonfire for the first time should be a bit of an "Oh thank God" moment. From each one you should consider it your base as you recon and probe the surrounding areas till you find out the way to go. Yes you'll die, and you will have to replay the same stretches more than once while you learn the game. However as you progress and grow stronger, areas that you once struggled with become easier. You'll open up shortcuts. Your weapons become better and you learn the best way to deal with the enemies in your path. Whenever you die, try and analyse what happened. Did you forget to check behind you and get jumped, did you walk off a ledge while in combat, were you trying to get too many hits in before retreating or blocking?

If there's one thing I can say about Dark Souls is that every death can teach you something. Except for Bed of Chaos. That can just strawberry float off.

It's not for everyone and it can take a while for it to click with some (Took me three attempts over 6 months to get into it), but if you stick with it you might just find it to be one of the most rewarding and satisfying gaming experiences you ever have. If not, then at least you gave it a go.

Yeah the area you are at just after Pontiff has one of those covenants (Aldrich Faithful) where people invade you. It's the big PvP hotspot too so you'll get normal invasions as well as the covenant ones.

Thats the one, numerous strawberry floating times, I'm now in the smouldering lake, and 3 times I've got close to that ballista and those dart wielding banana splits get me every time.

I understand what you're saying but there not being a bonfire right before or after a boss fight is not for me. I just don't have the time to replay long sections of a game nowadays. I do really like the game otherwise though.

There is a bonfire close to the entrance to every boss and one in the room after you kill one.

I didn't find one close to the Taurus Demon.

Closest one to that is at the start of the Undead Burg. A few of the bosses are quite far away from the nearest bonfire.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but can't you just run to the Taurus boss avoiding enemies on the way in less than a minute?

Isn't that what everyone does in this series? :shifty:?

It's probably not something everyone realises straight off.

Yeah, I've learnt that the AI is normally more use than actual players. :fp: Had one lad that I wanted to help with the knights in Andor, instead he went to fight all the giants. Died. And i got invaded.

Its gooseberry fool. Anyway Im up to the aldrich boss now I think, I know I'm coming to the end, and I've messed up my character a bit, invested far too much in strength and dexterity when id have loved to have put more into the spells and pyros as they're cool. I don't think ill play through again, unless theres some DLC coming? Got bloodborne GOTY next
