Marvel’s Spider-Man | PS4/PS5 (Remastered) Out now | PC August 12th

I echo the sentiments here, they have to alter MJ and Miles too. This Peter looks barely out of college, not the jaded veteran spidey (albeit only 23) we had before. The previous model looked young, but tired. He had seen some gooseberry fool, after having beaten most of his enemies. This one just looks like Tom Holland.

And mo cap is mo cap. Resident evil 2 and 3 had separate likenesses to the actors, and they turned out pretty well in that regard?

I think the new character model is great.

BUT... it doesn’t suit the Peter Parker of this Spiderman storyline. It’s absolutely out of place. Miles Morales’s mentor? More like his classmate.

The new Peter Parker looks like he should be in a different Spiderman game, like an origin Spidey, not an established and well seasoned Spidey.

They really goofed it up.

This is the model I would have expected in Crystal Dynamic’s Avengers game.

It’s a bad change and just does not fit. I need to see more cut scenes, ones where he is interacting with his supporting cast to see how it all works together.

I think it looks fine, better than the original model.

I suppose I have to see the full game in motion, and maybe the screenshot doesn’t do it justice.

But still he looks 15.

The new model in itself looks fine, but it's going to mess with the story as he now looks too young. MJ will need a redesign or it's going to make her look weird!

Why on earth has Sony made both those videos unlisted, don’t they want people to view them? Wanted to watch on my TV but I can’t because they don’t show up in the TV or mobile apps. Bizarre.

I'm not bothered about it. I say 90% of time you play as Spider-Man suit and you won't see his face much. :slol:

The barely looks any different, and in places looks worse on ps5 :fp:

Lighting is better and the flow is clearly smoother. Pop-in is evident on the big screen though.

Isn’t this just the 60fps mode though? Looks like we’ll be having to make that graphics/fps/4K decision again like this gen. YOU CAN’T HAVE IT ALL.

I think there is an option to choose resolution or performance mode on PS5.

I'm pretty surprised that the PS5 version appears to have two modes; performance and - I assume - graphics. Looking at that the vid, the PS5 version does generally look *slightly* better - although only really noticeable when side-by-side with the PS4 version - but it also has weird quirks like a slightly shorter detail distance in some scenes e.g. no cars in the distance when the PS4 version does.

I saw a tweet earlier (from John Linneman at Digital Foundry) that indicated the PS5 version is using some impressive ray tracing tech so I guess that must be in the "graphics" mode. I kinda think that the PS5 version could be great for folk who haven't played it on PS4 but I couldn't imagine splashing out the cash again on this update.

It's not that I don't like the new character model, but I finished the game with the old one, and the fact I went from thinking both he and the game were so so to loving them both means the new one will have its work cut out to win me over.
