You’re right. When people do wrong everyone should ignore it and not even try to do anything about it.

Yes but there is literally nothing they can do about it. If anything, this will only strengthen Trump's base. It's counter productive. The impeachment will fail and it will likely hurt the Dems more than Trump.

That doesn't mean I don't think what Trump did wasn't an impeachable offence. It was. But the US system is so skewed that it is completely ineffective.

It’s not going to strengthen his base, his base is never going to turn away from him.

It’s not likely to hurt the Dems either, nobody is going to change their vote because a party tried to impeach a President that was breaking the law,

Trump will try and use it as evidence of a witch-hunt but he does that with everything.

I agree it will not end with Trump being removed from office, but it’s worth doing because he has broken the law. Ignoring law breaking (especially by a President!) is not a good thing.

Trying to get him legally at this stage is a waste of time as he has too much power and control. Things are so insane its like in Star Wars! The senate will decide his fate and Trump is the senate!

I totally agree he needs to face legal consequences. Its just there is no point doing that now when it stands absolutely no chance of working or even providing any benefit. The best time is when he leaves office and Dems win back the presidency.

Trump is not the Senate. The Senate is controlled by Trump’s party and they are extremely unlikely to remove him, but there’s a chance.

There’s no guarantee the Dems will win the White House back in Trump’s lifetime.

I guess I just don’t think it is right to ignore the President breaking the law. If the House impeached him then at least they have done something, even if the Senate doesn’t remove him.

Pelosi unveiling the articles of Impeachment now, expected to be 2.

From yesterday -

twitter.com/HouseJudiciary/status/1204158395844042759

twitter.com/CBSNews/status/1204185385070452738

What next -

House judiciary committee drafts articles of impeachment
House Democratic leaders hold news conference Tuesday morning to announce at least two articles of impeachment against Trump.

Judiciary committee votes on articles of impeachment
The committee plans to vote on the articles on Thursday, each of which would have to be approved separately. The articles are expected to pass out of committee, where Democrats hold a 24-17 majority, along party lines.

Full House debates articles of impeachment
Upon arrival on the House floor, the articles would come in for debate. While House speaker Nancy Pelosi is in control of when debate begins and how long it lasts, the process could be delayed, temporarily, by Republican monkey-wrenching.

Full House votes on articles of impeachment
Each article is voted on separately, with a simple majority approval of any one article resulting in Trump’s impeachment. With Democrats holding a 233-197 advantage in the House, and the one independent, former Republican Justin Amash, supporting impeachment, the articles are likely to be passed.

Trump impeached
If at least one article is approved by the House, Trump would become the third president in US history to be impeached. This could happen before a scheduled congressional holiday break beginning on 20 December.

Senate trial

If Trump is impeached in the House, the Republican-controlled Senate would hold a trial, likely to begin in January 2020. The only such trial to take place in modern US political history, against Bill Clinton in 1999, lasted just more than a month. A two-thirds majority vote to convict on any one article would be required to remove Trump from office. With Republicans controlling the Senate by a 53-47 majority, the defection of about 20 Republicans would be required to remove Trump.

That seems unlikely.

One theory/wild optimistic hope I've seen it's 2/3rds of voters, not 2/3rds of members. So if 29 Republicans Senators stayed home/where sick etc it could pass.

"Put my perfect not-faked-tanned face on a character from one of those popular kids movies"

"You mean the Marvel movies, Mr President?"

"Yeah that Revengers one, the guy with the glove. You know I once had the most beautiful silk glove, I used to stroke Ivanka's hair with it when she was sleeping, so perfect, such a piece of ass..."

"Yes Mr President, of course, but just so you know, the character with the glove is a villain."

"You know if I wasn't her father, I'd totally date her, she loves jets and I've got 3. That Jared is one lucky guy, I bet he gets to see her naked. You know I used to be able to see all of the Miss World contestants when they were naked in the dressing rooms, because I own it so I could do what I want. But Ivanka was never in there, so sad."

I see Fox News has now completely ditched all semblance of impartiality and are just flat out calling the FBI a bunch of criminals :fp: .
It's amazing they even bother calling themselves a "news" station any more as they may as well just be Trump TV at this point.

Key committee passes Trump impeachment charges

The US House Judiciary Committee has approved two impeachment charges against President Donald Trump, moving the process towards a full House vote.

The articles, backed by Democrats and opposed by Republicans, are expected to be voted on by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives next week.

Mr Trump is the fourth US president in history to face impeachment.

Friday's hearing lasted just over ten minutes before the two articles of impeachment - abuse of power and obstructing Congress - were passed by 23 votes to 17.
