My right honourable friends,
Having analysed the initial notes in today's parliamentary record, I should like to posit the below thoughts on legislation. I would like to make it clear that I am posting this in advance of having fully caught up on the day's proceedings, so my analysis may already be redundant should other facts already be in the public domain.
It is my early belief that the below legislation would be beneficial to this parliament:
Duke Hanno IV wrote:Internal Affairs Act
The role of "Minister of Internal Affairs" is created, to be elected daily in place of the vote to lynch. The Minister of Internal Affairs decides the lynch candidate for the day and is protected from night kills.
* Emergency Powers Act [requires Internal Affairs Act]
The role of Speaker is abolished, the daily choice of law for proposal instead given to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Protected Communications Act
Private communication, including via PM, is allowed between all players.
Freedom of Information Act
Discussion of "Who is online" is permitted.
Execution in Absentia Act
Every player must post once per day or face execution (unless extenuating circumstances are given to the Duke).
* Compulsory Lynching Act [requires Execution in Absentia Act]
Every player must vote for the lynch each day or face execution.
* Compulsory Voting Act [requires Execution in Absentia Act]
Every player must vote on the proposed law each day or face execution.
The role of speaker seems too powerful and allowing it to fall into the hands of a Conformist is too great a risk. By transferring the speaker's powers to a role elected daily, we reduce said risk.
I am making a presumption that the Conformists are allowed to communicate via Private Messaging. As such, it benefits us in parliament if those background roles working toward our safety are granted the same privilege (However, if Conformists CANNOT communicate in this way, then this act becomes harmful and should not be passed). Likewise, if Conformists can communicate via Private Messaging but other secret figures acting in our interests cannot, then it is beneficial for us to be able to view their actions by way of monitoring the "Who Is Online" feature (though I accept that some will consider this an infringement of our basic civil liberties; however, these are indeed desperate times).
I believe encouraging all MPs to engage with the ongoing discussion is of benefit to parliament, as it prevents Conformists from evading detection through simple silence, and forces them to make comments that may help identify them in the days to come.
Likewise, I am currently of the opinion that the below legislation would be detrimental to our parliament:
Duke Hanno IV wrote:State Secrets Act
The number, names and descriptions of all roles in play will be published.
Expedited Execution Act
The lynch vote will be concluded immediately on reaching a simple majority.
Ministry of Truth Act
The editing of posts is permitted.
Stay of Execution Act
A "no lynch" vote is permitted.
Double Jeopardy Act
A double lynch will be performed on a tied vote to lynch.
Church Conformity Act
The Conformists win the game.
In particular, the Expedited Execution Act seems like it could easily be exploited by Conformists to carry out further assassinations of innocent parliamentarians.
Finally, I would like to comment that at this early stage, I believe it is too early to determine whether or not the below legislation would be helpful or harmful:
Duke Hanno IV wrote:* Investigatory Powers Act [requires State Secrets Act] [REDACTED]
This law will be declassified on passing of the State Secrets Act.
* Voting Integrity Act [requires State Secrets Act] [REDACTED]
This law will be declassified on passing of the State Secrets Act.
Repeal Act
Any law currently in effect may be repealed.
I shall now endeavour to read the remaining notes from today's records, including comments by other honourable members. However, it may be that events in Eye Arr Ell prevent me from engaging as often as I would desire.
