Get off the Plateu but the first thing I did was go left straight into the desert and got murdered by electric lizalfos and rolled off a cliff. Don't do that.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Hahaha it's the game that lets you go anywhere, even if it's a really really bad idea to go there

Yeah, I had looked up that there are a few choices but I believe that the cost is the preferable option 'cos it's permanent. Gonna try and get that today :toot: .

Hee! I did actually make it off the Plateau in my first play a few years ago but I can't recall how I got through the cold area; I just don't know whether I found the coat or cooked food. I do remember that I got killed falling off the tower whilst trying to use the glider, though  .

Fake edit: I'd pretty much forgotten that we've been down this road before with a specific "Great Plateau" thread and even a logo ( :o ... ). I've dug out the classic dumbass moment:

I have gained the necessary clothing and and made my way over to the fourth shrine. Gonna tackle it this evening... IIRC, I'm close to escaping the Plateau :-) .

Hee, I'm gonna try and get it right this time... will post a clip of the flight!

The game really doesn't hold your hand. Definitely not a bad thing, but there is a lot to take in and sometimes it feels like you're not sure what you're meant to be doing. I think that's the thing, though - it doesn't matter, just try stuff out! Whilst trying to get across the cold river on my way to the fourth shrine, I grabbed the metal plank and tried to position it on the broken bridge... but accidentally dumped it into the water instead. I'd thought I'd mucked it up but all I needed to do was retrieve the plank and re-position it.

Memories of a couple of places outside the Plateau are starting to creep back and I'm looking forward to revisiting them and progressing further :-).

Robbo, thanks! I have played before; back in early/mid 2018 I got up until a bit after leaving the Plateau but then I just stopped... dunno why! Feels good to have re-started and I think I'm approaching it with a more open mind this time; I'm enjoying the ability to explore and tackle things whenever you feel ready to.

Make sure to stick with it this time :capnscotty:

BotW is such an amazing game that, as you said allows you to play, explore, and tackle things however/whenever you want to or feel ready to do so.

Glad you're enjoying the experience again, jawa. It's such a free game
Can I ask - how did you obtain that Nintendo themed shirt?

It's an item made available as part of the season pass. It can then be found in a treasure chest on top of the ruins on the Great Plateau. The Wii U version has a Wii U shirt instead :-) .

Traveling deeper into Hyrule, I've reached the stable and gained a horse - a dappled one - which, chatting with the two kids at the stable, I understand to be slightly easier to train than a plainer one. Oh, and I bumped into Beedle, a salesman, whom I recall seeing in Skyward Sword!

I do like the changing weather and lighting in the game; it really makes for some atmospheric scenes.

If I didn’t have anything new (to me) to play I think I’d definitely be giving this a 3rd play through

Its a fun game to roleplay in as well. I decided that my Link didn't have enough memories to go off saving the world so he bought a house and settled down in Hateno Village. Every day I'd venture off into the wilderness to obtain things to trade and only ever saved my game when I got home to bed. I also disallowed teleporting unless I was pushed for time in real life. Using the Wolf Link amiibo made it a real 'wild man vs the elements' scenario.

Only after getting all the memories back did I then bother to do the great beasts and continue the story. Link still misses his time living in Hateno without a care in the world. He had a crush on the girl who runs the shop for her parents.

The Blood Moon. :x

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.
