You're absolutely right, best just leave kids to get neglected and abused in case the authorities mess up in less than 0.1% of their cases.

A case from 11 years ago is hardly evidence that all social services are useless. The baby P case showed the failures of social services to deal with a case of abuse but it also really showed why cases should be reported and dealt with. Some parents are horrible banana splits, ignoring abuse only leads to tragedy.

Sorry but this one made me chuckle.

I'd take that to be more he was scoping the house out and checking back to see if he'd gone out yet.

Neighbour dicks are blasting out music / TV again; two hours so far. Hugely frustrating as, from past experience, it'll probably go on all evening now and I'd planned to watch the Eurovision Song Contest in my living room. Not gonna let it stop me, though - noise log updated and am wearing my PS4 headphones to listen to the TV; albeit I have to sit right in front of the screen 'cos the headset lead is only short :fp:  .

Even wearing headphones with the sound at a reasonable volume, I can still hear their noise.

The year is 2718 and I am adding an entry to the noise log. I am wearing my PSX2 headphones to stave off the sonic assault but I fear the fumes will return soon.

It was all quiet this morning, oh so quiet, like the start of that Bjork song.

Then stool bloke emerged and started up the loudest bloody hedge trimmer you can possibly imagine!

I hate sundays.

He went back to his stool when he finished creating a disturbance, and stayed there for the rest of the day.

Then the local brats emerged from their houses for yet another day of endless screeching.

Go and sit next to him. Maybe he just wants someone to talk to.

No chance, today i saw the bloke next door had sat down with him and they looked to be bff's (not the first time that's happened either).

That said, the idiot joined to me seems to have turned his attention to the guys two doors down as the dog has been left to howl for hours against their wall this evening instead of mine.

This seems to be quite widespread these days, perhaps it's time to teach 'how not to slam a door' in schools?

Everyone here just seems to love slamming car doors, it's mind-blowingly irritating.

I saw the old git outside, he was coming back from his car whilst I was watering my plants on my windowsill, of course he was looking straight up at my windows being as nosy as possible as always.

He's been really noisy as of late, he's been shouting a lot at around 10pm for the past week, which is even more of a nuisance with it being SATs week for Ella, I'm lucky he hasn't woke her up.

Ludo is gooseberry fool!

This post has actually made me conscious that I might be doing this with my door and car. I'm thinking I might be a bad neighbour :dread:

Car doors I would have a bit more forgiveness for, obviously people shouldn't be complete dicks about it and slam the door with all their might, but most cars will have two stage latches on the doors that do require a reasonable amount of force to fully engage - you can't gently ease a car door shut and expect the latch to fully engage.

Doors in houses there is no excuse for - just shut them quietly FFS!
