From the new BC article -
For those of you still enjoying Xbox 360, cloud saves will soon be free to all Xbox 360 users, making transferring your favorite games to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S even easier.

You can order at the advertised price but Currys say they will just cancel the order and refund you within 5 days.

If you contact them you can use their price match policy to match the price of another store

The price is specifically for people who have a preorder. I dont think you can gazump them by using the price match policy.

It feels like Microsoft are doing some smart moves to try and attract back to Xbox those gamers who had a 360 but then switched to PS4 in the current gen; they're working hard to make up the lost ground.

Wait... you’re saying you actually went through with the transaction at that price?!

Actually seen the BC article posted on Resetera before I came in here. The entire thread has already descended into a console war because....well I have no idea. Seems to be a major Sony bias though from what I can tell, something about boosted mode is better than xbox back compat? I've no idea if it is.

That looks great! I feel like Microsoft is making the new consoles look pretty attractive for returning players; albeit I'd have to purchase Fallout 4 again - and I probably would! - should I decide in the future to switch back from PlayStation.

I wish that Sony would be a bit more open about how backwards compatibility will work on the PS5; i.e. would my current PS4 version of Fallout 4 run with improved framerate like it will on the Xbox systems?

Improved maybe but double? I don't think so, it's taken MS years to get its back compat team doing these things and they said ages ago that some framerates in BC will be doubled even 60 up to 120 again on 'select titles'.

Will we finally see Sonic Unleashed running at a buttery smooth framerate with no stuttering at all on the Series consoles? Jungle Joyride will be an absolute treat to play through if that is the case.

As for Resetera, I bet Sony could release a Playstation that only runs text-based games and the majority of them would still be on that side of the 'war'.

Isn’t it down to how the games were built on PS4 to how much of an improvement they can realistically get? Like UID the frame rate was unlocked, that kind of thing.

You can match a price with another store after you've bought an item just like you can most other stores. It's called a price match policy. It's completely separate from their artificially inflated price to dissuade people from buying the item.

Ha, thankfully I wasn't that stupido, I was referring to calling it the One X rather than Series.

This bit from the article:
Simply insert your favorite backward compatible Xbox One, Xbox 360 or original Xbox disc into your Xbox Series X, install the game, and you’ll be ready to play. Your digital library will instantly appear and ready for download on the console when you sign in. If you’ve already installed your games to an external drive, you can bring that with you to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

I went from 360 to PS4 and missed Xbox One entirely, but I am getting a Series S as my son wants one for Xmas.
The part that talks about installed games on external drive; that’s stuff you’ve bought and installed off the store, yes? They’re not going to allow you to bring 360 games via discs you’ve ripped to external drive to the Series S and play them without inserting the disc are they? What did they do for XBone S?
If they do, that will be amazing. I have so many 360 games but no way am I buying a Series X.

Nah you need a disc drive to play BC games. The disc acts as the “licence” so, while it doesn’t play off the disc, the game won’t start without it.

Thought so. Thanks. Looks like my 360 is hanging around until it dies then.

Dev -

Hey! We weren't offered any money. This was just a decision because of limited resources and only having five people working full time on the team.

Q) General question- has the Series S held back your vision for this game in any way? As a developer supporting the platform I would be interested in your view (even if its not too deep in detail)

A) So, our game runs on low end to high end devices, from iPhone 6S all the way up to Xbox Series X. In terms of scalability we always knew that we would be able to hit Series S, but one of my favorite moments in development was realizing just how powerful it actually was (this was a bit before the public announcement.) Realizing that if you're playing on a 1080p or 1440p display, the game would look pretty much the same between Series S and Series X made me very, very happy, as I'm (and this is me personally, not representing the team or ANY studio I work with,) very much a fan of making sure people have lots of ways to experience games.

Essential from Eurogamer -

Mesmerising and thrilling, this is a puzzle game for the ages.

“Will the game see any upgrades visually/technically with next Gen?”
Oh no, we’ve just made a next-gen-specific version that doesn’t improve anything at all.

I am tempered to double dip on those upcoming Dishonored and Wolfenstein collections for when I get my Series X, they were due to get next gen patches weren’t they? Any idea if the collections contain all DLC (if any released)
