Anyone got any helpful hints for the big electric guy in the unseen village? He doesn't seem too hard but I have like 26000 souls lying right next to him

I've seen it work for a few people, running in and mashing R1, but most others will wonder if they're even playing the same game because, if they stay in close for more than a few hits and ignore everything else, something is going to get them.

Stay around the back of it (possibly easier to do without lock-on), knock its legs out and then go nuts when it's laid out on the ground? Are you fighting it after having been abducted? If yes then you can leave him for later.

Cheers Sok. No no that happened already, I'm returning having beaten Amelia ( p.s that gif )
Got the guide, killed Amelia, explored a good chunk of Hemwick.
I've had a wee flick through the guide and it's a rather nice looking piece. It's come in handy already as I didn't realise that certain enemies were more vulnerable to some weapons than others. Which helped me beat Amelia
Despite saying I couldn't be arsed, I started a NG+ playthrough. Currenly up to the Forbidden Woods as well as working my way through the "story" challenge dungeons. I might even consider going for the platinum trophy if the next two dungeons required for that aren't an absolute banana split, although I hear that one of them halves your health.
Just when i thought i was done with this, i went back after a week or so away. A bit of get gud juice later and i went through mensis with little issue, got micolash (embarrassingly it took me a few goes... I think the last patch makes him run around his little maze much more then he used to from videos ive seen), i did wet nurse first go and then got me a key to what might be hell itself and killed a celestial envoy too! Hammer is +10 ive got three bosses, one of which is cainhurst guy. Might actually finish this game. The first from game ive ever stuck with and potentially seen the end too.
For me, this is the best game From software has ever made. It makes you want to come back. Gets in your head. Grant us eyes, grant us eyes indeed.
Edit: And done. Gerhman was a bit of a dick, but a few goes he was done. Also before him and moon face i did erbitaits (however you spell it) first try, didnt even do her bullshit magic gooseberry fool for me, cainhurst boss also was a two try thing. I think once you have all the runes, gems and a +10 weapon, the games actually rather easy.
The guide has everything in a completely different order to how I've been doing things. Cainhurst, Darkbeast Paarl and Nightmare Frontier all before Byrgenwyrth. No wonder Rom was so tough. I was supposed to be way more levelled before I took her on.
So, before I continue through the Unseen Village, I'm going to go do what I should have before. I cleared all of Cainhurst bar the boss yesterday without dying. I can't get into the Gaol, though. The lamp doesn't work anymore.

gg.
Did you [is]break the window after the fight[/is]?

yeah, went and fought squiddly diddly down there too. First try on her i got her, i was pretty lucky i think, she just did her downward drop head attack. i've seen that fight be much harder and attacked a lot whilst i tanked her and wailed away with +10 kirk hammer. No shooty magic missiles of death for me, and little of the blood attacks either.
Theres a shrine or thing there after, where you can take the mushed up bits of queenie too. But what does that do? rebuild her? for what purpose though?
you have to watch for an attack opening, wait for them to strike, dodge it and then hit as many times as you dare before they hit back. Lock on to an enemy with R3.
Patience is key. If you see a group of enemies, don't go close enough to Agro them all, walk close enough to set one at a time off if possible. Lock on, dodge doge doge, don't alway use heavy attack (R2) as it's slower than the R1 attack, so if you're not used to the punishing combat style then leaving yourself open to attack by using a slow one is asking for trouble.
The gun isn't for attacking (at least not early in the game). It's primarily for parrying enemies, which if done correctly can make a brute of an enemy fall in a few hits.
Don't give up and don't surrender to the OMFG SOULS GAEMZ AR SO HARD hype as its really not that hard, it just punishes button mashing and impatience.
